Hot Knife contributed the special effects to this advert by creating flying jewellery, cheques and the digital cloth used for the backdrop pulldown sequence. Oh yes and the pouring gold.

Kudos Showers ltd contacted Hot Knife directly to create a bespoke ‘motion brochure’ for their new wetroom systems.  Our solution is a 3D character led programme extolling the virtues of their product range and the wetroom system itself. The presentation also includes an additional animated installation guide for professionals. From concept design, script, storyboard and animatic to final edited 7minute piece Hot Knife had the imagination, skill, adaptability and fire power to handle each and every stage along route.

Safety is imperative to National Grid and this animation was one of four commissioned upon the subject of ‘temporary works’ such as construction. Hot Knife designed the 2D characters from concept, storyboarding the scenes before animating and combining them into the 3D rendered settings. Additional atmospheric elements such rain and foley were rendered to the multi-layered High Definition composition and finally sent off to the production company.

The myriad group required and Christmas card with a difference, animated ! This multilingual ‘ani-card’ was well placed as an online thank you, and was rendered at HD using 3dsMax Mental Ray. The full sequences were composited and graded within after effects allowing greater freedom for the client’s requirements.

Sometimes describing a process can be simplified with a little bit of animation. Bacardi have a procedure in place to make sure their advertising maintains its high standard throughout the various regions it is seen in. Character animation was the best way to show this procedure, bringing a light hearted view to an otherwise everyday message keeps the attention of the viewer and delivers the information.

This HD 3D animation was rendered in-house using Hot Knife’s propietry built RenderFarm, which is great for producing high definition, high quality images on time for a tight turn-around. The sequence itself is to promote the laying of an electricty cable between Holland and the Uk and highlights the key elements required to make this happen.

This is an example of an anglyph render so get your 3D glasses on – the sequence was used as a stand attractor in the states. Rendered for and played through high-def monitors and projectors at the Clinphone stand this worked well for attracting attention to the product. Hot Knife provided the audio and visuals as well as any high resolution print work required for the 3D.

A recent industry viewing of the WarpX film “Bunny and the Bull” by Mighty Boosh director Paul King, produced hearty smiles for the post production work we did on the background plates for the Switzerland scenes. The loop sequences were used for back-projections for some of the driving scenes over which the actors were filmed. The film is due for release this Autumn.

39 companies filmed, edited in 3 weeks and delivered on time for the award ceremony for the East Midlands NHS Health and Social Care Awards 2009. We also filmed the evenings events amd mixed the footage live to the 400 attendees all without a glitch.

This Dominos Pizza viral was used on the landing page of Dominos site and proved to be a light haerted attractor. Animated and rendered in 3d Studio Max the box and pizza tongue were synced to the sound track automatically through an audio controller which was then added to with traditional animation techniques.
