Commonwealth Games VR

Hot Knife were asked to create a fun interactive virtual-reality game intended for the concourse of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022.

The concept, commissioned by artist Jason Wilsher-Mills, was for a first-person VR-shooter, set in a sporting arena, featuring inflatable icons of both Birmingham and Jason’s work.

The project spanned from concept, through modelling, texturing, rigging and animation to real-time interaction and coding for VR.

As with all interactive gaming projects, a large proportion of project development is based in testing and revisions. Many iterations of a game are built and tested before the final version is ready for public use.
