Wollaton Hall T Rex Interactives
Hot Knife Digital Media (HKDM) produced three unique, touch-free interactives for Titus: T-Rex is King. An extraordinary exhibition showcasing the first real Tyrannosaurus Rex to be displayed in England for over a century.
To make the digital interactives as Covid safe as possible, HKDM worked closely with Ultraleap to utilise their Stereo IR170, a camera and tracking solution that captures all the subtlety and complexity of natural hand movements allowing for a touch-free interaction for the twelve digital stations.
Touch-free reduces the sanitising requirements and increases the longevity of the installation by removing any moving parts. HKDM worked closely with leading palaeontologist Dave Hone and existing high-resolution T-Rex skeleton scans to create an anatomically accurate 3D T-Rex for the interactives : ‘Create your own T-Rex’ – spray feathers and colour your dinosaur, ‘Dig for bones’ and place them in the correct place on the T-rex, and ‘Explore the skin, muscle, and organs’ of the T rex.
The exhibition is currently at Wollaton Hall and tickets can still be booked : https://wollatonhall.org.uk/titus/
