The Talking Rhubarb Totem

Artist Jason Wilsher-Mills worked with Wakefield District Sight Aid, recording their thoughts and creating a newly commissioned sculpture based on these stories, based on a 30 year old sketch he produced, when he was an art student at Wakefield College, and other stories from his own experiences of growing up in the ‘Merrie City'. The audio you will hear are the authentic voices of those from Wakefield’s visually impaired community, talking about subjects as diverse as the sound rhubarb makes when it grows, to what art means to someone who cannot see.
